Efektifitas Ekstrak Cair Pemanis Alami Daun Stevia (Rebudiana Bertoni) Terhadap Kadar Gula Darah Sewaktu

Diabetes melitus (DM) merupakan masalah kesehatan global dengan prevalensi yang terus meningkat, salah satunya dipicu oleh tingginya konsumsi gula sederhana. Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni) merupakan pemanis alami rendah kalori yang berpotensi menjadi alternatif pengganti gula pasir. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis efektivitas ekstrak cair stevia terhadap kadar gula darah sewaktu dibandingkan dengan gula pasir. Penelitian menggunakan desain crossover kuasi-eksperimental pada 88 mahasiswa Jurusan Gizi Politeknik Kementerian Kesehatan Manado. Responden menerima intervensi berupa ekstrak cair stevia dan larutan gula pasir pada waktu yang berbeda. Konsumsi ekstrak cair stevia tidak menyebabkan perubahan signifikan kadar gula darah sewaktu dibandingkan kondisi sebelum intervensi (104,64 menjadi 102,98 mg/dL; p=0,129). Sebaliknya, konsumsi larutan gula pasir meningkatkan kadar gula darah sewaktu secara signifikan (95,90 menjadi 110,03 mg/dL; p<0,001). Kadar gula darah sewaktu setelah konsumsi stevia juga lebih rendah dibandingkan kadar gula darah sewaktu setelah konsumsi gula pasir. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak cair stevia tidak meningkatkan kadar gula darah sewaktu
